Ultrasound testing (UT) in metals is a critical non-destructive testing (NDT) method used to inspect the internal integrity of metal components and structures without causing any damage. It’s widely employed across numerous industries to ensure product quality, structural soundness, and safety.

Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), also known as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), is a widely used non-destructive testing (NDT) method specifically designed to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. This includes common metals like iron, nickel, cobalt, and their alloys (such as steel and cast iron). It’s a highly effective, relatively quick, and cost-efficient method.

Visual Testing (VT), often referred to as Visual Inspection (VI), is the most fundamental and widely used non-destructive testing (NDT) method in the inspection of metals. It involves the direct or indirect observation of a component’s surface to detect discontinuities, evaluate surface conditions, and verify dimensional compliance. While seemingly simple, it’s a critical first step in many inspection processes and requires trained personnel.

Penetrant Testing (PT), also known as Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) or Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT), is a highly effective non-destructive testing (NDT) method used to detect discontinuities that are open to the surface of a material. Unlike Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), which is limited to ferromagnetic materials, PT can be used on any non-porous material, including a vast array of metals (ferrous and non-ferrous), plastics, ceramics, and composites.

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is an advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) method that uses sophisticated ultrasonic technology to provide detailed and highly accurate inspections of metals. It represents a significant leap forward from conventional ultrasonic testing (UT) by offering enhanced capabilities for flaw detection, sizing, and imaging.

Thickness inspection in metal testing is a crucial Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method used to measure the thickness of metal components, primarily to monitor for material loss due to corrosion, erosion, or wear, and to ensure that the component meets design specifications. It’s vital for maintaining the integrity and safety of structures, pipelines, pressure vessels, and various industrial equipment.

CWI Inspection refers to inspections performed by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). A CWI is a highly qualified and certified professional who plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of welded structures and components. The certification is granted by the American Welding Society (AWS) and is recognized globally as a benchmark of expertise in welding inspection.

NDT Training services are specialized educational programs designed to qualify and certify individuals in various Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods. These services are crucial for developing the skilled workforce needed to perform inspections that ensure the safety, integrity, and reliability of materials, components, and structures across diverse industries.
